I HAVE 1,000 TIKTOK FOLLOWERS
I HAVE 1,000 FOLOWERS ON TIKTOK!
That sounds so weird to say, and frankly, what does that REALLY MEAN? It means I can put a link in my bio that will link back to whatever I want… including this blog! or my amazon storefront!
I am excited because, I thoroughly enjoy making reels and videos about books to share with others. Afterall, my goal is to inspire and encourage others to homeschool and read more books.
I started my social media presence on Instagram and was convinced by a friend to give Tiktok a try. I was hesitant because that just creates one more place for me to manage and respond to comments. But, I did jump on the bandwagon and it has been beneficial.
There is actually a really great community of homeschoolers who are active in posting and encouraging each other. It makes TikTok a lot of fun to be a part of. Some of the fellow accounts feel like friends that are popping over to see what I am posting and how our day is going.
My best friend in real life, has been my ride or die since we were 3. She also homeschools her kids but lives in a different state. She has always been a huge supporter of my random endeavors… and she sent me cookies! like decorated sugar cookies with my account name and everything…. It made me feel so incredibly special!
Why does something so simple and trivial actually mean so much to me? Well, I do not always feel like I am making a difference in the world outside of our home. I often think about what mark I am leaving in history, and I know that my number one place is through raising my daughter. She will go on and raise her own family, explore the world, and be a good human which is my ulitmate goal! But sometimes, it is a nice feeling to feel like you are adding to socialty. That is what running this social media account is about to me, how can I improve the world in a larger sense.
As trivial as social media can be, it also has helped me to feel that I am encouraging others, one post at a time. As a homeschool mom, it can be lonely and repetitive but having others who know what it is you are prioritizing in life, and understand how important that is, that is a true blessing.
So, thank you for being part of my story and for helping me regain some confidence, feel encouraged that my views mean something to others that are not family, and for cheering on my wins with me!
